Marjorie 15th September 2020

It is sad to be doing this but brings back so many happy memories, especially from our time together in Edinburgh - amazingly now over 50 years ago. We met there in 1966 as first residents in a new hall of residence, then after over 2 years in Grant House we decamped to a flat in Clark Street, very central for the University, for another 2 years. We had some great times - concerts at the Usher Hall, theatre, parties and pub nights ; unsurprisingly, memories of some were always a little hazy! Ewart visited our home in Pendle, Lancashire, several times, including a memorable new year. The last time was as one of a great set of groomsmen for Marjorie and my wedding in 1972. Inevitably, direct contact was less for several years but it was a bonus when we moved to Chepstow and found that Denise's sister was also here, so we had a chance to meet during family visits. He was a lovely person and left a lasting impression on so many people. He now joins our two other flatmates, Edwin Simpson and John Brown, who have also passed away in the intervening years - I have lost a great team of friends but the friendship still means a lot.
