I have such fond memories of times spent with Ewart- on walks in Fife, round the dinner table in Jesmond, and even while holidaying during a murder investigation on Sanday, Orkney. He was always thoughtful and insightful whether discussing politics, Tchaikovsky or dough. And he was great fun to be with. I will miss Ewart very much but his quiet passion for justice and rights, including the importance of shelter as not only a secure roof over the head but a place to share good food, conversation, love and friendship, stays with me. With love to Denise, Peter, Alice and all the family.
